"A Busted Economy Means a Boom for Network Marketing"

by Eddie Patin

These are trying times. Today, in early 2009, no one can deny that the United States economy is on the decline. But, where many are suffering and finding less and less income and production to go around, others are coming to a new era of prosperity.

For a while, last year, I thought the ‘suffering economy’ was just a product of the liberal-biased media and the politicians who wanted sanction for seizing more government control. I heard the prominent voices (the ones I listen to) claim that unemployment was far exaggerated, the national G.O.P. was still on the rise, and things were as good as ever.

But, it became apparent to me that the ‘down economy’ myth was steadily becoming a reality. I saw this when I wasn’t able to find work in my field (heavy construction) for several months, because the banks were no longer approving funding for many new construction projects, and many construction companies were having to return their equipment, one machine at a time, lay off their workers, and … shut down.

Of course, no one was hiring any heavy equipment operators.

When I started to focus on my older skills and experience to find any work I could, I found that my standards, just to find anything at all, had to drop lower and lower every day. Business management? Marketing? Forget it. Even finding work waving signs around on a street corner was nigh-unreachable.

Whenever I managed to get a hold of a potential employer, I found that, no matter what position they were advertising, their company was being swamped with two hundred or more resumes a day, most of which were under-qualified.

By the time I finally found a ‘secure’ day-job, the sorry state of the economy and its effects on businesses and employees still remained a dark shadow lurking behind my new-found income. My new boss fretted and worried behind the scenes, discussing with his friends about how he’s pulling back and focusing on ‘just keeping the business together’ and expenses low. About how he wants to ‘wait and see’. I suffer no delusions that I am safe in this job. It could be gone in a month, and I could be struggling in the ocean of unemployed trying again to find anything I can to survive.

This is the struggle of the worker. The employee. And in today’s ‘busted’ economy, it is absolutely no way to live—much less a way to prosper.

And it’s going to get worse before it gets better.

The other day when I was driving home, I heard something interesting on a radio show. The host remarked that unemployment had now officially reached the highest levels since 1991 (or something), and we are starting to see a trend of people focusing more on ‘contingency work’. That is: while the number of steady, employed workers is going down, the number of freelancers and self-employed workers has doubled in the last year.

People are learning and evolving to meet the times. This declining economy is teaching average people that they cannot rely upon their employers—they can’t rely on working at a safe, secure, 40-hour-a-week job any more—and they’re going into business for themselves.

The market is shifting, now and over the next several years, to favor people that run their own show. Contractors, freelancers, independent agents, and other one-man business systems, are going to make a killing in the times to come as companies are cutting expenses and outsourcing their projects.

While this trend is good news for me (as a freelance writer), it is also good news for anyone involved with, or looking to get involved with a solid network marketing company.

Now and in the next several years, thousands upon thousands of people will be experiencing a severe wake-up call: Working as an employee will NOT guarantee a safe, secure income. These people will be forced to look into more creative options to make ends meet, and most of them will be opening their eyes for the first time to the world of business, establishing passive cashflow, and the pursuit of financial freedom.

Good network marketing programs (like the Independent Profit Center—like http://BiggerCashflow.com) will go through a major boom as people seek financial education and look for ways to make extra money in their spare time.

Once we take the first step out of the ‘employee’ mentality and begin looking into the world of business and investing, any good education sources out there point at the value of a great (legitimate) network marketing program:

A good Network Marketing business will provide:
  • An inexpensive initial investment.
  • A great cash-on-cash return on that investment.
  • A pre-established, proven system to follow
  • Valuable business training that can be applied to all areas of business, usable for a lifetime.
  • Useful products (a legitimate program should have an actual product)
  • and, the holy of holies, PASSIVE CASHFLOW (residual income that continues to flow into your pocket without you spending your time to get it).
This is a great time to expand your business education and delve into a part-time network marketing program. If your hours have been being cut, instead of finding another unreliable job, you can invest in yourself and build your own business. Fill those missing hours by working for yourself and for your future. If you’re unemployed, have some living expenses saved up, and can afford the initial investment, you’re actually in a very good position to dive into running and marketing your own business full-time and start making an income that is a direct result of your efforts immediately.

Amazingly enough, many people will continue trying to do the same old thing—trying to find another job, or an extra job, maybe in another industry; anything to pay the bills. And in this changing market, doing the same old thing will only get harder and harder as the economy continues to turn against the working man.

The economy will eventually right itself and find balance. But, in the meantime, people left holding the buckets and still trying to bail out a sinking ship will be forced into poverty.

All things in life and nature have balance. If you find that things are only grim and overwhelming right now, try to step back and locate the other side. Try and see the opportunity left in the great open space—the void left in the wake of all this negativity.

And there is opportunity.

Achieving financial freedom and getting out of the rat race is as simple as using the money you have as a vehicle to build ways (assets) to make your money work for you and pay the bills (passive cashflow) without you needing to spend any more of your time working. Network Marketing, as an automated business system, is one of the several ways to build such an asset, and to train you to build more.

Now and in the next few years, as fed-up employees begin researching other ways to find reliable income, most will be encountering network marketing business systems (and seeing it for what it really is) for the first time, and many will be getting involved. For those of you who get involved now, you’ll find lots of opportunity to grow your own businesses and jump into an adventurous new world of financial control in a time where this industry is really becoming prosperous for everyone.
